Here are some tips on boiling eggs with natural dyes.
- Use old eggs
- Eggs that are older (5 days) will peel easir than fresh eggs
- Let the eggs warm to room temperture (15-20 minutes)
- This helps prevent cracking
- Put eggs in a single layer in the pan
- This will help the eggs from bouncing around and cracking the shells
- use cool water
- This will help the eggs from cracking, by slowly raising the temprture of the egg shells
- cover the eggs with at least 1 inch of water
- Add a little salt to the water
- this will draw out some of the water from the egg, through osmosis, making them easier to peel
- Once the eggs start to boil, turn the burner to low and simmer for 1 minute.
- After 1 minute turn the bunner off, remove the pan from the head and let the eggs for atleast 10 minutes
- The longer they sit, the more dye can soak in
- Remove the eggs and place on a paper towel or wax paper
- wax paper will pool the dye leaving spots.
- Do not rinse the eggs or this will remove some of the dye
